I'm many things! But for the purpose of my work, two labels are important. I am a queer First Nations person- Noongar and Karajarri (WA) are my language groups.
With this positioning, I've taken to a life journey to investigate the nature of Australian society, what it means to belong and how, and what must be overcome in order to succeed (personally and professionally).
I commit to knowing myself, others, and the communities we are part of. It's only by this understanding, that the right practices can be identified and enacted, to create and maintain the right environments for success.
Intertwined across my personal and professional 'lives', is my strong focus on family, culture, Country, and growth and healing.
I strongly believe that it's people that matter most- over the job, the house, the car or anything else. It's our humanness that's worth living for- for the most part.
We all want to feel like we belong and that we matter in some way- to a cause, to others and to ourselves.
It's my aim to help people create and extend meaning in their lives and in their professional practice, so they might successfully carve out for themselves, their versions of the 'good life'.
Through First Nations ways of being, knowing, thinking and doing, I work to decolonise people and place, to create more inclusive environments, conducive to quality teaching and learning: 'quality existing'.
You'll find that my practice is always underpinned by philosophical inquiry. I find quite often, in what I do, that the questions (and the inquiry) matter more than the answers, themselves.
I get involved in a range of different projects, initiatives etc.
Here's a snapshot of what I do, but it's by no means, exhaustive. If I haven't done it, I just haven't done it yet:
Professional Learning
All things relating to policy, project development, research, teaching and learning and resource development.
Performance, public speaking, creative arts, writing and art by commission.
